Girls Weekend Update!

Well, once a week is better than what I was doing…right? I actually started a post last week, but it never got done! So, I will start over this week!

Let’s see…..Scott surprised the socks off of me and sent me 2 dozen roses to work last Monday for our anniversary! When the girl brought them to me, there were 3 of us girls standing there talking and we were all wanting them to be for us, but I really didn’t think that Scott would do that! I was so surprised! They were absolutely beautiful! Our maintenance guy (who I LOVE…just a NICE guy who goes out of his way to help us) told me yesterday that they are almost as beautiful as me. He is good to have around for a couple of reasons! Anyways, that was a nice surprise! And then, one of the guys I work with delivered me a basket of flowers for Administrative Assistant’s Day! That was nice! They always do something for me, even though I am not technically their admin, I do a lot so support them. So, my office looked like a floral shop! It won’t last though, my thumbs are black. Although, Kelley….I still have that plant that Jean gave us last year at the Women’s Retreat. That has been a year! WOW! It doesn’t have to be watered often, thank goodness. Otherwise, it would be dead by now. Anyways, I LOVE having fresh flowers in my office. It just puts a smile on my face!

For my family update….Scott is fine….I am blessed to have a husband who does so much for me and the kids. He really does a lot – around the house, yard-work, etc. Isaac is doing fine….he had a soccer game on Saturday that I missed, but he was the Goalie. The ball didn’t make it down to him once. He thought it was funny because he thought they were scared of him. He got to help lead worship in big church yesterday! He was one of the kids on stage for Family Worship. He did a great job! When they first started singing, his hands were in his pockets. But then he got into it. I was so proud of him! My two boys were wearing matching shirts on stage…so cute! Faith Anne is her normal “diva” self! Mandy gave me a good tip about this “God’s Little Princess” stuff from Sheila Walsh. So, I bought a movie and doll and book and sweatshirt for her at WOF – she LOVES it! She calls it her “God’s Princess” movie. Maybe it will help with her attitude!?!? Anyways, she is so sweet. I think she really missed me when we were gone for WOF. And Gracie is fine! She didn’t sleep very much at all last week (which means that I didn’t either!!!). She was up screaming most every night. She did better over the weekend…..but then last night wasn’t very good either. It is like she knows I have to get up and go to work so she doesn’t sleep! 5:00 am comes very early when you are up nearly every hour with a screaming kid! So, hopefully that gets better soon! But she is just the cutest little thing! Yesterday at church, they had a live bunny for the nursery kids to have their picture taken with….she tried to eat his ear. It was very funny! Faith Anne wasn’t too sure about the bunny…but Gracie thought it was just another toy!

So, we are all doing fine. I am fighting some sort of crud – snotty nose, cough, etc. But I don’t feel really bad, so I can’t complain too much. It just stinks to be like this when it is so beautiful outside!

Okay…so Women of Faith! It was a WONDERFUL weekend with “the girls”! We all had a great time – we laughed a lot, cried a lot and then laughed and cried some more! It was really great – and I am so glad that we went to the Friday session. It is the first time we have ever done that and it really was wonderful! First of all, let me just say that we left pretty much on time! YEP! Everyone was on time and we got on the road and got there in time! We had good conversations on the way there….and that was just a great way to start the weekend. I think we all got something different out of the weekend – but we all needed it so much! It was just great! God was there…you could feel Him. And there are just no words to describe the joy of seeing 18,000 + women praising God!

The theme of the weekend was “Amazing Freedom”, however Sheila Walsh was one of the main speakers on Friday and she paralleled her talk to the Wizard of Oz. Well, she sang Somewhere over the Rainbow on Friday and Saturday. There was a girl that has Down’s Syndrome who did sign language for her…it was beautiful. On our way home on Saturday, right before we got home, we saw a gorgeous rainbow! We all sang Somewhere over the Rainbow together and it was like God sealed our weekend together with a beautiful ending too. It was just wonderful!!!!

I am so thankful for my family and the time that we had together. It really was a great time of spiritual renewal….as well as bonding with them! We made memories for a lifetime! And just like the song says….”God is Good, All the Time! All the Time, God is good!”

Let me just say that Sandy Patty was the musical guest and she was AWESOME! I have never been a big fan of hers…but she really blew me away this weekend. God has given that woman so much talent and it is so wonderful that she chooses to glorify His name with that voice! She rocked the house!

And the comedian was HILARIOUS! I haven’t laughed like that in a long time! One of my favorite one-liners from the weekend was: “Single women go and look at what is in the fridge in the evenings and then go to bed. Married women go and look at what is in bed and then go to the fridge!” That was funny…Jodi said so!

So, Women of Faith and the time with ‘the girls’ was very fun, very inspirational and I can’t wait to do it again!

Well, I have to get to work! Hopefully Mandy and Jodi will post their highlights of the weekend. They do a better job at that stuff than I do! I just gave a broad overview! Thanks for your prayers for us over the weekend. We got there and back in one piece, and with me driving, that was not a small feat!

Love to all!!!

It has been a while since my last confession...

Wow….where do I even start? It has been so long that I don’t even know where to begin! I guess I should start by saying….I am typing this with NO GLASSES ON! Isn’t that amazing? My vision is not quite 20/20 yet….but it is pretty darn close! So, that is exciting! I can tell you that the surgery that I had (PRK) was not as quick and painless as Lasik, but it has the some wonderful and miraculous results! The difference between PRK and Lasik is that with Lasik, they open the cornea…the laser does it’s job and then they close the cornea back up. With PRK, they basically brush off the cornea so that the laser can do its job and then it has to heal itself. So, kinda like you have a really bad scratched eye – if you have ever done that before. So, there was some pain involved as it healed….but in the end, it was so totally worth it! So, I am still getting used to not having to wear glasses, but what a wonderful thing to get used to! I still wake up at night when one of the kids needs me and reach for my glasses….then I realize, Hey! I can see without glasses! So, it will probably take some getting used to!

So, here is my family update:

Scott and I celebrated our 7th anniversary yesterday! I cannot believe it has been 7 years. What a lot of changes in that time….let me tell you! But, God has so blessed us. More than we can even fathom. Just when we get comfortable, He does something to remind us of His awesomeness and His power. So, yes, God is good all of the time and All of the time, God is so very good!!! So, Happy Anniversary Scott!

He is still doing well at Time Warner. He gets frustrated because there is always some dishonest sales going on….and it is hard to avoid the temptation, especially when the guilty ones aren’t being punished….but he is doing great and doing it the honest way! So, that makes me proud! He has been doing a great job at church with helping lead worship in both services…. especially in Heritage. Last week was really good and he got a lot of compliments and cards in the mail about how good it was. So, that keeps him busy on the weekends. Oh! We also built a new shed in the backyard. I say “we”…which means Scott, my Dad and a guy from church. It is AWESOME and it was great that Scott got to help on it. He learned a lot…bonded with my Dad and the guy from church…and really it gave him such a sense of pride in the shed. That is exciting! He still needs to paint it…he is going to paint it in Ohio State colors (duh!). But it is awesome!

Isaac is doing great! His 3rd Quarter Report Card was SO, SO, SO much better than last quarter! He has made some huge improvements….like things are just really clicking for him now. I am so proud of him! He had his first soccer game on Saturday and he did a great job! He thinks he is the team captain….so cute. But this will probably be his last year playing soccer because once he starts football and realizes how to use his size to push people around…..soccer won’t work! LOL He has also started T-Ball practice….so we are very busy! Scott is helping to coach that team again this year. He did fall at church the other night and landed on his arm and so he has been babying it a lot lately. We didn’t take him to the doctor, but I am sure he just bruised it or sprained it. We got him a brace to wear and it is getting better. Really, I just think he likes the attention!!!! Now, if Faith Anne had fallen and acted like he did, then I would’ve taken her to the doctor! She is one tough cookie. Isaac cries at every little thing. So, that should make football fun this fall!!! But back to Isaac….he is really a little social butterfly! He is always on the go. It is so different growing up in a neighborhood than in the country. In the evenings, he is either at our house with his friend Branson or at Branson’s house, next door. They are always getting into something. And occasionally, they go across the street to play with the older kids in the neighborhood. It is so neat to see him grow up…but sad at the same time! He did share with me that some of the kids go on “dates” at school. I asked him what that meant in kindergarten and he told me that it means that the boyfriend and girlfriend play together on the playground – just the two of them – doing the same thing. I asked him if he had any girlfriends and he said no, and I said it was a good thing because there aren’t any girls good enough for him. LOL I can’t believe that stuff is already happening in KINDERGARTEN! He said one of his friends was holding hands on the playground! YIKES! Can’t wait for Scott to have to have “the talk”! Man, they grow up fast! I just hope that we are doing all the right things in raising our kids to be Godly and make wise decisions. I really worry about this every day. Never too soon to start worrying….LOL

Faith Anne….well, she is Faith Anne….our Princess. She constantly insists that she is a Princess and you cannot convince her otherwise. It was cute at first, but now it is a little “diva-ish”…thanks Dad! The other day, we had this conversation:

Me: Faith Anne, what are you?
FA: I a Princess.
Me: What’s Daddy?
FA: He’s a King!
Me: What’s Mommy?
FA: A alligator.
Me: How about Isaac, what is he?
FA: A King!
Me: And Gracie, what is she?
FA: A stinky winky.

I about died laughing. She is something else! She is the mother hen, the boss, a brat, a princess, a diva, a great big sister, a bratty little sister and I just love everything about that stubborn little girl! She is definitely a middle child – so I am bracing myself now for all of the challenges that we have ahead of us, for I know there will be MANY. The first one…trying to get her potty trained! She is NOT going to do it until she makes up her mind to do it. She has done it a few times, but not consistent. I think my Mom is going to have her run around in big girl pantes outside (when the weather is nicer, duh!) until she figures it out. She knows HOW to do it…she just doesn’t WANT to do it. I think if we can accomplish that, we can do anything! LOL

Gracie is just a sweet and chubby baby! She is very spoiled in that she wants to be held all of the time or at the very least, she has to SEE you. We have had a few nights that she has slept through the night, but most nights she wakes up a few times crying for her pacifier or a bottle….it is annoying! I am ready for a full night’s sleep! Someone is always waking up, it seems. But she is doing well. She still spits up all the time, but it doesn’t bother her, just us. She isn’t really rolling over, although she will if you help her a little bit. And she is sitting up pretty good, but not enough to just leave her on the floor to play. It is so funny how you are with a third kid….the milestones and such just are not the same. I hate that, but it is true. However, it is really neat to see Isaac and Faith Anne get excited over the things that she does. I guess that is the trade-off with being a third kid. Her whole little face just absolutely lights up when she sees Isaac and she won’t take her eyes off Faith Anne. When they are running and playing, she just laughs and laughs. It is so precious! She has two bottom teeth that have poked through, so that makes her smile even more adorable! Oh, I just thought of something! I forgot to get her 6 month pictures done! I need to take her soon! She will be 7 months in a week or two. Geesh! What a bad Mommy! Oh well…she is doing great. As much as we weren’t prepared to have a third baby, I wouldn’t trade her for the world!

So, that is the family update! It has been so great having my parents close by, but I do worry that we bother them too much. They help with the kids so much…and I couldn’t have done it without them when I had my eye surgery. My dad drove me around for a few days. We see each other a lot, but I love it…and the kids do too! My dad actually is on a field trip with Isaac today and he is going on another one tomorrow. I hope Isaac realizes how lucky he is to have a Papaw who CAN and WILL do those things with him. They are going to a Farm today (yeah, like that would’ve been a field trip where I grew up…that was what most kids LIVED on in Wilmington!) and then going fishing tomorrow. So, I am sure he will have so much fun. Dad seems to really like retirement…that is what he said yesterday. He said he loves it. I know there are good days and probably bad days, but so far, he loves it. They are going to Florida and probably a short Bahamas cruise in June…they have had breakfast with the cruisers a few times…..he is building a shed….they are always busy! So, I am so happy for them!

What else? Please keep my niece Dru in your prayers. She has more testing, but they are on the verge of diagnosing her with epilepsy. Now, there are many forms of that disease and many causes of the seizures, so we aren’t really sure what it all means yet, but I am sure it is scary for her and my Sister. So, please pray for them.

I have a couple of fun things coming up! This weekend, Jodi, Mandy, Chelle and our cousin Jeanna are going to Women of Faith in Columbus. I am really looking forward to that! I need a spiritual renewing weekend, ya know? And then the following weekend, Joy and me…and maybe another lady from church, are going to Fort Wayne for the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale. I am so excited about that. I made us hotel reservations for that, but Joy suggested we stay at a Bed & Breakfast…..which would be very, very cool! So, hopefully that will work out! And then we have Lion King tickets in June…so that is exciting!!!

Life has gotten very busy though….it seems that there is always something going on – between work, church, Isaac’s schedule, Scott’s schedule…just a million things! Oh well! I guess that is the way things will be for a while. Actually, forever! I am sure it will get worse before it gets better with 3 kids!

Well, I really don’t know what else to say. There has been so much time and so much that has happened, but you don’t really care about ALL of the details, do you? LOL

I have been lurking, but not commenting….so I am caught up on all of you! I will try to do better with that…but I don’t always have time to comment – but know that I am praying for you and love you all!!!!
